Beauty therapist Jenna Johnstone opened her own holistic retreat in Fazakerley.

Chic Boutique is a combined hair and beauty salon on Longmoor Lane.

Jenna has opened the holistic beauty salon as an extension to the existing hair salon and the centre is already proving popular.

Jenna said: “I was nervous about launching a new company in the face of the recession, but so far the risk seems to have paid off. Because there is a hair salon attached, it means that many of my existing clients are using the holistic centre aswell. They basically come for the full makeover, getting their hair and body transformed in one visit!

Therapies Jenna offers include treatments such as pedicures and facials, aswell as more unusual applications, such as glitter tattoos and eyelash tints.

Jenna said: “We also offer special ‘Girls’ Night Out’ packages, which is fantastic for female bonding and a great idea for a hen night. I’d most recommend the eye package; it’s an eyebrow wax, tint and shape and an eyelash tint; the results are outstanding and are visible immediately.”

For those who prefer a sure-fire method of freezing the ageing process, Jenna also has a nurse who is qualified to administer Botox. Botox is not available in many salons in the area and so Chic Boutique is unique in being able to offer their customers this effective treatment and aid them in their quest for eternal youth.

Jenna is a former hairdresser and has been bar manager in a few of Liverpool’s gay clubs. However, she had always wanted to be independent and run a beauty salon and following a course at The Beauty and Holistic Academy in Liverpool and with help from the business support organisation Dream High, Jenna was able to establish her own company.

Dream High offers advice and support for aspiring entrepreneurs in East Liverpool. It enables people like Jenna to realize their dream. “Claire Chang from Dream High has been an amazing help to me,” Jenna adds. The organisation has helped Jenna to create her own business plan and through Dream High she has learnt how to use the appropriate computer software to efficiently structure her finances and kick-start her business.
